  • It happened last week, mamas. “I’m sorry but I just have to ask, are you pregnant?” 😬😬 I was in line for dinner with my husband on our first trip alone after having Jemma. “No, I just had a baby, 9 months ago.” She immediately played it off and said it was because I still had such a “glow.” But it was an instant punch to my self esteem and plagued me for a good while afterwards. But I had to remind myself that it was probably the way my pants were sitting on my waist and let. It. Go. Sure, it suuucks being asked if you’re pregnant 9 months postpartum, when your mom bod still has a long way to go before looking even remotely “back to normal.” When you have so much loose skin from pregnancy you wonder how it’ll ever disappear. But then I take photos like this with my baby girl and see that it doesn’t matter! My happiness and success as a mama don’t depend on if I’m back to my pre-pregnancy weight almost a year after having my baby. And here’s the kicker: everyone’s body is different. There are the mamas who are naturally skinny and look back to normal just weeks later. Then there are the mamas you have to work for it a little harder, but still bounce back quickly. Then there are naturally curvier mamas like me who hold on to every little pound. That’s ok...and it’s what makes us beautiful. #thisispostpartum

  • 9 MONTHS! ❤️ Can you believe it?! She’s been out for as long as she was in! She’s actually turning 10 months next week, but I didn’t want to skip this month. She’s started to do so many fun things this month! Like STAND on her own (she’s a pro now!), sleeps on her own most nights, has started some finger foods, points (she especially loves to point at herself in the mirror and at pictures of Jesus), and has one tooth that is almost all the way in! She’s such a busy body and loves to explore. We love this little girl and the tiny person she’s becoming! #jemmajoliej
  • Happy belated Valentine’s Day to my baby daddy, best friend, and forever sweetheart @crishjubie . We took a little getaway/post baby moon to Vegas this week and it was so special. I loved the one-on-one time and memories we made. Of course, we couldn’t stop talking about our Jemmy girl 😉 But I think EVERYONE should take a trip with their significant other after a baby is born. The more connected you are, the better you’ll be able to take care of your baby! #cristianandsonja
  • Cristian and I just left for our first getaway without Jemma and it’s already KILLING us. 😭 We’ve been planning this trip for a few weeks now, knowing that Crish had a bunch of PTO to use AND that he would be taking the ASVAB last Friday. We would go no matter what score he got buuuuut he got a FREAKING 95 AFQT!!!! So we’re definitely celebrating, and who knows when we’ll be able to do something like this again once everything Air Force gets going. His next step is to take the DLAB...we’re crossing our fingers he’ll be offered a cryptologic linguist position. If not, we’ll consider other branches. It’s such a big decision, commitment and life change for us but we know in our hearts this is our path. Here’s to a new adventure! And oh, stay tuned into my stories to see where we’re going on our getaway! #jemmajoliej
