There are so many baby products out there, it can be daunting for new parents deciding which ones they should get and spend their money on. Some of the best baby products are expensive, but are they worth it? Here I list the 10 best baby products that are worth your money.
This is a list mixed of products that I have and love, ones that are top rated on Amazon, and come recommended by my Instagram followers. (Follow me on Instagram @sonyjoubert for all things mamahood!) Please note that prices may have changed on Amazon since this post published.
10 Best Baby Products You Should Splurge On
The Owlet Smart Sock is one of the best baby products I totally regret not purchasing! It is a wearable baby monitor that tracks your baby’s oxygen levels and heart rate.
The Smart Sock connects to a base station that glows green letting you know everything is okay, but uses lights, sounds and app notifications if heart rate or oxygen levels are too high or too low. Parents can sleep better and have less anxiety knowing they’ll be made aware if levels go outside of preset zones.
What a game changer, especially for newborns! It’s even better that it comes with three washable socks, and also connects to the smart phone app so you can see the results in real time.
In my opinion, a baby swing is a MUST when it comes to the best baby products, and the mamaRoo is top notch. It’s bluetooth enabled so you can control it from your phone, uses an AC Adapter (no batteries needed!), and has five unique sounds and motions — it bounces up and down and sways from side to side “just like parents do.” The mamaRoo is also made out of smooth, woven nylon material and has a machine washable seat (you have NO IDEA how important this is until you have a baby and experience your first in-swing blowout).
If you’re looking for something like the mamaRoo that’s cheaper, the Fisher-Price Deluxe Auto Rock ‘n Play Sleeper with SmartConnect is a good one and on sale for $59.84 on Amazon.
Freshly Picked Moccasins and Diaper Bag
The moccasins are super easy to slip on and off, can be wiped down (I just use a baby wipe) if they get dirty, and come in so many cute colors and designs.
And their diaper bag? It doesn’t even feel or look like a diaper bag. I have the Classic Diaper Bag in Blush, and I’m obsessed. I feel like such a girl mom when I wear it. 😉 It has wipeable surfaces and can be worn three different ways.
From Freshly Picked:
Pack it up and pack it in with the new Diaper Bag by Freshly Picked! This mama-cessory lets you fit literally everything you need for you + baby with 10 pockets and a spacious central compartment, easy access magnetic front flap, a grab-and- go handle, an electronics sleeve, and straps that let you wear it three ways: as a shoulder purse, backpack, or cross-body bag.
Did you read that right?! 10 POCKETS. That’s probably my favorite feature — it easily fits everything I need. I could even fit my breast pump in there!
Something that’s also fabulous about Freshly Picked is that they have a monthly subscription service/membership called The Fringe. You pay $10 a month, which gets set aside for you in store credit and rolls over each month. You also ALWAYS get 20% off and free shipping and VIP early access shopping on sales (which is super helpful because stuff sells out so quick during sales!)
To get $5 off your first month of The Fringe, use my code FMOSonjaJ when signing up until Nov. 26th. Sign up for The Fringe here.
We recently bought this Skip Hop Activity Center for Jemma and we have no regrets! She loves in and could play in it forever. Since she’s so mobile now (almost 7 months old!), I wanted something I could put her in and not worry about what she could be getting into. I liked the idea of this one over the other version Skip Hop offers because the standing pad turns into a chalk board table. The other one is practically the same besides that feature (it just turns into a tabletop), and the colors and toys are different. I also read some reviews that babies got their fingers stuck in the owl toy on the other one, so I didn’t want to risk that.
The Skip Hop activity centers definitely make the best baby products list because they can be used for three stages of development: “Sit, swivel, bounce & play; Cruise & interact; Play table.” This means we can use it for years to come, compared to other activity centers that would have only gotten a few months of use. I also love that it’s not super gaudy and annoying.
This stroller “grows with your family” and can be configured 16 different ways. You can purchase it as a double stroller or buy the second seat separately. You can also buy glider boards for a third child.
The City Select has 4.4 out of 5 stars on Amazon. Watch the video below to see exactly how customizable this stroller is:

Solly Baby Wrap
Baby wearing is practically a must in the early days, and a good wrap can make all the difference. The Solly Baby Wrap is comfortable, easy to use, and practical. I particularly love how lightweight it is. I’m pretty sure my husband wore it more than I did! 😉
At Solly Baby, closeness is what matters. The power of touch, the strength in being together, the comfort given just by being near, and that the most enduring relationships are not only in love but in experiencing life together.
We believe our infant wraps bring you closer to your little one, physically and emotionally, while simultaneously giving you the freedom and comfort to take on daily life.
The wraps are designed for babies up to 25 lbs and for the first year of life, but get most of their use within the first 9 months. They’re made in the USA out of “Lenzing modal, which is a lightweight, buttery soft and sustainable fabric sourced from the pulp of Austrian beechwood trees.”
Purchase the Solly Baby Wrap here for $65. (There are some discounted ones for $55 and the mini or “dolly” size for little girls is $25.)
I know this isn’t necessarily an “item,” but I wanted to include the Pampers Pure Diapers because OH MAN, are they worth the extra price. Pampers are the only diapers we like for Jemma (Huggies and Kirkland fit her weird and she always has blow outs in them, and Luvs give her a diaper rash), and Pampers Pure are everything that’s so great about Pampers but without any additives.
Pampers Pure are diapers made out of premium cotton and soft plant-based fibers, and are without chlorine bleaching, fragrance, lotion, parabens, and EU 26 allergens. Just think about that — do you really want all those things touching your babies skin pretty much 24/7?
It’s a plus that they can prevent leaks for up to 12 hours AND have super cute designs on them that aren’t cheesy.
Purchase a box of 108 Pampers Pure size 1 diapers here for $35.15. (Price and count vary slightly for different sizes.)
DockATot or Snuggle Me Organic Co-Sleeper
A baby lounger like the DockATot or Snuggle Me Organic is another one of the best baby products I 100% regret not getting. I think it would have been so helpful with Jemma’s sleep problems!
This popular Swedish co-sleeper/baby lounger reinvents the womb with it’s raised, rounded sides and can be great for bed sharing, tummy time, travel, etc. The DockATot Deluxe is for babies 0-8 months old (or up to 22 lbs) and the DockATot Grand is for babies and toddlers 9-36 months.
This sensory lounger is award winning, made in the USA out of 100% organic cotton and virgin polyester fiber fill, and “hugs” your baby with its patented design. From Snuggle Me: “When you lay baby on our center-sling, the sides of your Snuggle Me will gently pull in against baby, giving the feeling of a hug. This is a unique, patented feature only found in the Snuggle Me.”
Purchase the Snuggle Me Organic for $125.98 here (includes cover and cotton canvas zippered travel bag).
The Bumbo is such a life-saver! Jemma has been sitting in it since around 3-4 months, and since we don’t have a high chair yet, it’s what we put her in when we feed her baby food — we just put it on top of our table (instructions say you shouldn’t put it on a raised surface, but we are always right there with her).
It’s made out of durable, low-density foam so it’s lightweight and easy to transfer and travel with. Designed for baby’s posture, it has a deep seating surface and elevated leg openings to ease baby into an upright position. Make sure your baby can raise their head on their own before using, though — the Bumbo is recommended for babies 3-9 months old. I also love that it comes with buckle restraints, so my baby is nice and secure in it.
Purchase the Bumbo Floor Seat here for $52.99 (price varies slightly for some colors).
You can buy the Bumbo Multi Seat, which can be used as a floor, booster, and feeding seat with a tray. Purchase it here for $54.99. You can also buy a tray that attaches to the original floor seat here.
