I’ve been working on my physical fitness the past few months and let me tell you….it’s a journey. I’ve never been someone who enjoys a lot of physical exertion, so finding a fitness routine that works for me has been a years-long struggle.
But thanks to my ex-personal trainer husband, I’ve discovered that I actually LOVE weightlifting. I’m still getting the hang of it and I still don’t love working out (I’m trying to get to the point where it doesn’t feel like a chore anymore…it’s rough!) but I’m getting there!
And something that helps is workout clothes that aren’t only comfortable, but make you feel good too!
A few months ago, when I was starting weightlifting, I decided to give myself a challenge: If I were to workout 6 days a week for 3 weeks (I don’t exercise on Sundays because it’s the Sabbath), I would buy myself new workout clothes. And I did it!
It definitely motivated me and got me into the habit of working out. Now, it’s been a few months since and I’ve lost the habit a little (I know, yikes!) but because I have, it’s actually taught me how important keeping it up is.
Which brings me to this tank! HUSTLE.
It helps remind me that you can’t forget to hustle (aka work hard)! With working out and everything else in life.
It’s also the perfect material — soft but sweat-proof. And the black is super slimming! However, I do recommend sizing down because I’m in a medium here (unless you like the looser fit) and could have gotten a small.
And these leggings! You guys! They have just the right amount of stretch and I adore the netting detail. The high waist is awesome as it sucks everything in but they aren’t super compressing that they’re uncomfortable.
Now, if you’re more busty like I am, you know how hard finding the right bra can be, let alone finding a good sports bra that doesn’t make you feel like your boobs are being smushed to death.
Enter this amazing Victoria’s Secret bra!
It’s maximum support, goes up to DDD and is both padded AND has flexible underwire. The underwire never pokes me and the keyhole racerback means I can slip it on and off. Plus, the straps are adjustable.
And as far as shoes go, I’m wearing my Nike Airs here because I was hiking, but I can’t do weightlifting/cardio without my PUMA Pulse Flex XT shoes. They’re sooo light weight and breathable. I like my Nikes for hiking since they’re heavier and more sturdy.
I have to admit, posting these photos makes me feel super mixed. My body is NO WHERE near where I want it to be, but they actually make me feel kinda confident because I look at them and see a woman who is trying.
And who is stronger than she was before.
(Just look at those back muscles! Eeeek!)
I’m excited to keep improving and if you have any tips, please send them my way! I’m especially looking for ways to have more of a routine while strength training.
P.s. If you’re in the Portland area, you MUST hike Wahclella Falls. It’s such an easy hike ( 2 miles round trip — still got my heart rate up though!) for such an amazing reward at the end.
