My favorite 2016 drugstore beauty products

I looooooove me a good drugstore makeup or beauty find. I could spend hours browsing through the makeup aisles at Target or Walmart!

I found quite a few favorites in 2016, and some of them have even reach ride-or-die status for me. So, I wanted to share!

numbered

1. Aveeno Ultra-Calming Makeup Removing Wipes, $5.69 at Target, $5.82 at Walmart, $7.99 at Walgreens and Ulta

These are seriously the best makeup wipes I’ve ever used. I have reallllly sensitive skin and other wipes tend to irritate it. And one wipe can usually take off my full face of makeup. Plus, my husband loves the smell!

2. Milani Eyeshadow Primer, $5.39 at TargetWalmart and Amazon, $7.29 at Walgreens

This stuff is comparable to Urban Decay or Too Faced primer. It goes on nude but dries invisible. My one gripe with it is that I usually feel like I need more than one coat.

3. NYC High Definition Liquid Eyeliner, $3.57 at Target, Amazon and Walmart

I HATE using pencil eyeliner. The skin on my eyelids and under eye areas is really thin, so sometimes pencil hurts. So I love liquid eyeliner, and this NYC eyeliner goes on sooo easily. The felt tip makes it so you can create thin or thick lines. And it’s so cheap!

4. Maybelline The Nudes Palette, $9.99 at Ulta, $7.49 at Target, $8.98 at Walmart

Now, this is no Naked palette, but it’s comparable for the price. I love it for an everyday look and I loooove it’s size. It’s perfect for tossing in my purse or for when I’m traveling. The color pigmentation and payoff is pretty good, especially for the mattes.

5. Maybelline Dream Pure BB cream, $8.99 at Ulta and Walgreens, $6.37 on Amazon, $7.49 at Target, $6.70-7.44 at Walmart

Another secret about me: I hate foundation. I just don’t love the feeling of it on my face and I’m always worried about it rubbing off on stuff. So this stuff gives me enough coverage without feeling heavy. It’s also an acne treatment (with 2% salicylic acid) and helps with redness.

6. Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream, $5.99 at Ulta, Target and CVS

AKA heaven in a tube. I love the consistency and it smells so good. It’s somewhere between a lipstick and a gloss. The one problem I have with it is that the formula sometimes clumps on me. But it comes in a handful of fun colors and isn’t drying.

7. NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder, $3.62 at Target, $2.77 at Walmart

I use this translucent powder to set my foundation (when I actually wear it) and it goes on like a dream. And again, so cheap! Gotta love that NYC. The one thing is, like with most loose power, is that it can get messy — so you should make sure you’re over the sink 😉

  1. Love your honest opinions! I use the same face wipes, and agree, no irritation – it’s great for us sensitive skin peeps. Have been meaning to try the NYX lip cream and Milani eyeshadow primer. Great review.

  2. I didn’t know that aveeno had makeup remover wipes, I want to try them now! I’ve been using the Simple wipes but I usually prefer Aveeno products. I love the Nyx lip creams!

  3. Love drugstore product reviews! I find it fun to look through the cheaper brands and find the occasional holy grail item.

I was wondering if you would mind answering a couple of questions about the BB cream – how thick is the coverage? Is it enough to cover redness/other discoloration? And how is the colour? Normally i find that non-Asian brand bb creams are too dark for me or turn orange…
